This is what summer really feels like…

This is how life feels about now… we are 3 weeks into summer vacation with the kids.  It feels like school has been out for months…

End of school was the 22nd of June. We’ve since had birthday parties, 4th of July vacation at the lake, a fabulous weekend away celebrating my brother-in-law’s wedding, sleepovers with cousins, sleepovers with neighbors, fun in the sun at the beach and pool, and the kids even made it to the town fair while we were away last weekend. The laundry has not only taken over the laundry room (which is inconveniently our downstairs bathroom) but it’s piled high in the hamper in the bedroom too! I’m talking dirty and clean laundry, but honestly I’m not sure which is which at this point… smell test, anyone?

Just finally getting cleaned up from the porkchop’s 4th birthday party, and there are so many half packed bags lying around I seriously don’t know if we’re coming or going!

The good news is, the kids are indulging in summer, and our vacation away camping starts soon- maybe too soon! We are scrambling to get packed up and keep track of camping inventory… it’s chaos.  I look forward to camping, swimming, and exploring with the family, and maybe when we get back, we’ll be rested and rejuvinated! WHO AM I KIDDING?  Maybe, just maybe August won’t fly by as fast as June and July did.

We can’t wait for summer, and then when it hits, and the kids are out of school, and the schedules go out the window.  It seems as if we are busier now than we were with school and playing taxi to all the kids activities.  Is that possible? That’s life, actually…

  1. Oh my goodness yes to all this!! We LIVE for summer! As a single mom with M-F parenting time school year I miss my boys because they’re at school, summer is the time we just let go and LIVE!! But yeah, laundry and camping and toys are plentiful!

    1. I find myself missing the controlled chaos of school days, and also forgetting what day of the week it is because the kids are home!
